With over 100 member organisations, the CSEF, under the chair of Mick Creedon, held it's first General Meeting on 27th February following its incorporation as a company limited by guarantee.

Belfast City Council promotes women in non-traditional employment

As part of the Equal at Work Project we worked closely with the Women into Non traditional Sectors (WINS) project led by Belfast City Council. This project has now produced a range of very useful publications on this theme.

Changing of the guard - Anna Lee retires

Anna Lee, manager of Tallaght Partnership has stepped down after three years as Chair of the Dublin Employment Pact and seven years as a member of the Board.
 
At her last board meeting, Anna was honoured by the board members and thanked with some emotion for her great service to the Pact since its foundation.  All members of the Pact wish her all the best for the future.

Trafficked Women Project for Dublin
Help for victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation in Ireland

Under the Equal at Work Project, DEP developed contacts with the employment services in Madrid.

 

The Madrid project developed an innovative strategy to assist women trafficked for sexual exploitation. DEP with a range of other organisations now hopes to replicate this initiative in Dublin under the EU Daphne Programme.

Community ICT update - Dublin City Council and Age Action Ireland train silver surfers!

One of the most significant projects of the Community ICT Initiative included Dublin City Council and Age Action Ireland bringing computer training to older people (silver surfers). This project was delivered through the FIT Ltd. eCert training programme and included fitting out senior citizen’s accommodation with IT equipment.
 
The initiative is nearing completion and has brought eCert training to over 2,500 people through 80 community groups across the Dublin region.

Learning at Work – New projects across Dublin bring training to over 500 people
The Learning at Work project is starting a new and extended round of projects across Dublin. These projects are being implemented through local partnerships in Northside, Ballymun, Blanchardstown, Clondalkin, Tallaght and Rathmines.
 
Over 500 people in the workplace with educational needs will have access to a variety of training. The training will cover administrative skills, forklift driving, warehousing, ICT and mathematics up to leaving certificate level.

DEP in Europe


The creation of the European Company (EEIG) MetropolisNet was reported in the last issue of NewsPact.  This is a consortium of city partnerships in large urban areas across the EU, in which DEP plays a leading role.
