The Fox School's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute (IEI) congratulates its executive in residence and Fox School alum, Howard Goldberg, for being named 2003 CEO of the Year by the Eastern Technology Council.

Howard E. Goldberg is president and CEO of InterDigital Communications Corporation, a leading architect, designer and provider of wireless technology and product platforms.

The Enterprise Awards honor the Greater Philadelphia region's technology and life sciences companies and their leaders for outstanding achievement and excellence in the field of technology. The CEO of the Year Award recognizes the chief executive officer who demonstrates strong leadership qualities and successful management skills.

Mr. Goldberg began his career at InterDigital in 1993. He has served as the company's general counsel, and then as president of InterDigital Technology Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of InterDigital, where he led the revitalization of InterDigital's patent licensing program.

"Howard has done a great job at taking his company to the next level and is very deserving of the award. The Enterprise Award is a terrific
verification of his achievement, the judges are first rate as were his
finalist competitors," says Rudy Treichel, executive director of IEI.

"Howard is not only top CEO , but is also a strong supporter of Temple and The Fox School. It is great to see a person that balances his business endeavors with his commitment to his family and his contributions to the community. We are happy for Howard and his team at Interdigital and proud to have him as a Fox School alum and our executive in residence," Treichel continues.

Mr. Goldberg is serving as an Executive in Residence during the 2003-2004 academic year. In this role, Mr. Goldberg is a lead mentor and advisor for the Fox School’s IEI graduate and undergraduate programs. His responsibilities include facilitating interaction between students, faculty and Philadelphia area executives, guest lecturing, student mentoring and coaching, representing IEI at university and external functions and working closely with Dean Moshe Porat and The Fox School’s faculty to further enhance the IEI program.

IEI cultivates entrepreneurial spirit throughout Temple University. IEI is committed to a holistic, hands-on, relationships-intensive model of living education that integrates the business experience of entrepreneurs and professional advisors with the perspective and techniques of faculty and the enthusiasm and developing skill sets of students.
