Making your company a success and increasing business “cents” were just two of the topics covered at the Fourth Annual Women’s Entrepreneurship Conference held on Thursday, November 20 in Mitten Hall.

Over 350 participants attended the conference presented by the The Fox School of Business and Management, Temple University League for Entrepreneurial Women, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute, School of Communications and Theater, and School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Rebecca Matthias, president and COO of Mother’s Work, Inc., delivered the keynote address and shared her experiences as a successful female entrepreneur. NBC 10’s Tracy Davidson moderated the half-day conference.

Following Matthias’s address, Julie D. Lanzillo, president of InfoSport, Inc. and Ellen Yin, owner of Fork Restaurant, discussed “From Startup to Success.” The conference concluded with a panel of business experts who discussed “Growing Your Business Sense/Cents.” The panelists included Irene Hannan, senior vice president and director, of Women’s Business Services, Wachovia; Nicholas M. Lovecchio, executive vice president and director of Risk Solutions, Willis of Pennsylvania; Lori Reiner, CPA, partner, Goldenberg Rosenthal, LLP; and Jane K. Storero, Esq., partner, Blank Rome LLP.

“The Fourth Annual Women's Entrepreneurship Conference was a huge success,” says Monica Treichel, assistant professor of general and strategic management in The Fox School, and co-chair of the League for Entrepreneurial Women.

“Our keynote speaker gave a presentation that was informative and inspiring, and our six panelists shared their own insight and experience about the entrepreneurial process. Conference attendance increases each year, indicating that the Women’s Entrepreneurship Conference is valued by students, faculty, alumni, entrepreneurs, and business professionals," Treichel continued.

The Temple University League for Entrepreneurial Women is a collaboration among the Fox School of Business and Management, the School of Communications and Theater, and the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. The League is an advocacy initiative addressing the growing challenges and interests of entrepreneurial women in the Greater Philadelphia region. It is designed to enrich the knowledge base of Temple’s aspiring women entrepreneurs. The League promotes and provides educational resources and services through conferences, research, scholarships, networking and mentoring.
