Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida Hosts Fox Alumni Breakfast

The Third Annual Fox School Florida Alumni Brunch took place on Sunday morning, February 8th, at the world famous and exclusive Mar-A-Lago Club in Palm Beach. For the second consecutive year, the Brunch was sponsored by Barbara and Irvin Saltzman (FSBM ’47), and more than 90 alums and friends attended.

After a fabulous buffet brunch, a short program featured an update on the Fox School by Dean M. Moshe Porat, supportive remarks by Temple University’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Howard Gittis, Esquire, and Richard J. Fox, a member of the Board and Chair of the FSBM Board of Visitors. Messrs. Gittis and Fox talked about the importance of supporting the School, especially the campaign to build a new home for The Fox School on the site currently occupied by Curtis Hall, which will be demolished to make room for a new high tech multi-story facility.

Mr. Gittis gave the audience a special treat when he introduced Wall Street’s
Michael Milken, who now chairs the Milken Family Foundation. Mr. Milken, who appeared in tennis togs, gave an insightful talk on the importance of urban research universities in the United States and their impact on the American and global economies. The Foundation is a major supporter of education and technology, the teaching profession, and medical research.
Dr.Paul Andrisani

Mr. Milken’s talk served as an unexpected, but welcome, bridge to an interactive discussion by Dr. Paul J. Andrisani, Professor of General and Strategic Management at Fox, on “The Global Economy and the Challenge to the American Workforce.” This timely topic is one of several efforts to bring top-quality Fox faculty to alumni events to share their expertise on current management and business issues.

After the program, those attending had an opportunity to have a special dessert buffet and an opportunity to network and meet old friends, and meet Florida alums who live or vacation in The Sunshine State.
