The May 2004 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine ranked Temple’s Fox School Entrepreneurship Program among the Top 50 in the nation, and recognized Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute executive director Rudy Triechel as one of the Top 5 program directors.
“I am truly honored by this recognition,” stated Rudy Triechel. “However, the rankings reflect the strength of the IEI team and support the program receives at Fox. Many faculty and administrators contribute to the strength of the program, including Rob Hamilton, chair of the Department of General and Strategic Management, T.L. Hill, faculty on the consulting practicum, Julie Cropp, assistant director, and Eustace Kangaju, director of the SBDC.”
The Fox School ranked in the 3rd quartile with such notables as Chicago, Wharton, Duke, Stanford, UVA, and Rice. The rankings are compiled from a list of more than 700 entries and evaluate a complex amalgam of statistics on faculty, courses, outreach, and research. No other regional program (other than Wharton) was ranked.
Temple’s program is making special efforts to reach out across the University and into the community through initiatives like the business plan competitions, venture fairs, the award winning Small Business Development Program, the League of Women Entrepreneurs, and Women’s Hall of Fame.
“The great new turf in the next three to four years is the massive support for “entrepreneurship across the curriculum,” says David Newton, founder and CEO of TechKnowledge Point, Corp., a Santa Barbara based venture research firm that compiled the data for the 2nd Annual Top 100 Entrepreneurial Colleges and Universities.
