As the saying goes, crime doesn’t pay—not even insurance fraud. Although people believe they can “beat the system,” in Pennsylvania those found claiming additional damage after a fender bender or those who even intentionally set fire to their own property are looking at a felony crime, punishable by up to seven years in prison and up to $15,000 in fines.
As the chief law enforcement official for Philadelphia, District Attorney Lynne Abraham leads Philadelphia’s fight against fraud in conjunction with IFPA. She was one of the featured guest speakers during Temple University’s Gamma Iota Sigma Professional Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science Fraternity’s distinguished guest lecturer series.
