Mayors and Technology Leaders Examine State of Homeland Security

Mayors and other government officials, academic experts, and technology leaders across the country examined this and many other questions surrounding the state of homeland security during the Mayor’s Technology Summit: Homeland Security, Safety and Economic Development , jointly hosted by San Francisco Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr., and the Center for Competitive Government at Temple University’s Fox School of Business and Management on Thursday-Friday, July 17-18, in San Francisco.

Fox and GPCC Honor GSK’S J.P. Garnier With Global Award

As the architect behind GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) steady rise to international leader in research-based pharmaceuticals, CEO Dr. J.P. Garnier has deftly met the demands of a changing healthcare environment while still remaining true to his company’s mission — to develop innovative ways to make healthcare accessible to all.

It is an undertaking of extreme importance to Garnier and one lauded by The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and The Fox School of Business and Management’s Institute of Global Management Studies at Temple University who honored Garnier with the prestigious 2003 Global Award on Thursday, June 12.

Fox’s New Venture Forum Spurs Innovative Ideas

The entrepreneurial spirit was certainly alive and well at Temple University’s Fifth Annual New Venture Forum on June 6.

The atmosphere was electric – literally with local entrepreneur Edward Kron driving his human/electric powered utility vehicles around the Liacouras Center concourse and Temple students showcasing their innovative ventures to discerning investors.

May 2003 Graduation – Fox and STHM Celebrate Excellence
Six hundred beaming students, including a newly crowned Miss Philadelphia and a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Millennium Scholar, received their degrees at one of the largest commencement ceremonies for The Fox School and The School of Tourism and Hospitality Management on May 21. Fox alumnus Joe Zuritsky 1961, chairman and CEO of Parkway Corporation, delivered a motivational keynote address.

Temple Honors Fox Professors and Alumnus During its Spring Awards
The Spring Semester was abundant with awards and honors as the Temple community recognized Fox professors R.B. “Rob” Drennan, recipient of 2003 Great Teacher Award, Ed Rosenthal, recipient of the 2003 Lindback Award, and Fox alumnus Harold Schaeffer, BA ’50, Founders Dinner certificate of honor awardee for their years of dedicated service to Temple and its Fox School.

From running a virtual cosmetic company to mastering the fundamentals of business, students from The Fox School’s International MBA and undergraduate programs applied their knowledge and skill to make commendable placements in recent business competitions.
