Fox Entrepreneurship Programs Ranked #4 Undergraduate, #7 Graduate
In its October 2006 issue, Entrepreneur magazine and Princeton Review ranked Temple University’s entrepreneurship program as the nation’s 4th-best program for undergraduates and 7th-best for graduate students.
Out of more than 700 schools surveyed, Temple’s entrepreneurship programs were the highest ranked in the tri-state region of Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Delaware, and Temple’s undergraduate entrepreneurship program ranked #1 among programs at U.S. public-urban universities.

Business Plan Competition Reaches Across University
The ninth annual Business Plan Competition proved that entrepreneurship competitions aren’t just for Fox School of Business students. That was clear when four undergraduate engineering students won this year’s competition, with their plan for Advanced Medical Data Solutions.
The team’s proposed company aims to provide inexpensive alternatives to traditional cardiac rehabilitation. One of their goals is to develop a portable cardiac monitoring device with patented software.

Dollar Express Mogul Speaks to Aspiring Fox School Entrepreneurs
On Tuesday, March 27, the mastermind behind the successful dollar store chain Dollar Express and Fox School alum, Murray Spain, shared with Dwight Carey’s Advanced Entrepreneurship class, the secrets of his success. Advanced Entrepreneurship focuses on case studies and business plan development to give students the tools they need to succeed in their own business ventures.
Spain and his brother Bernard opened their first Dollar Express in the mid ‘80’s, and business took off immediately. They were successful for about 20 years, and then sold their company in 2000 to Dollar Tree for $500 million.
Spain said to the class, “You can’t be intimidated, and you have to always be prepared for what’s next. The other thing to remember is to be relaxed, and to always be yourself.”
