“Cruisin” with the Grad Students
On Sunday, July 25, the students in the TIM Master of Science program were treated to a tour of the new Norwegian Cruise Line ship, the Pride of Aloha. As guests of Regal Travel, the graduate students got a chance to view the freshly renovated; Hawaii themed public areas and staterooms of NCL America’s first U.S. flagged ship. As a U.S. flagged cruise ship, (the only one currently in the world) NCL now offers an all Hawai`i itinerary with longer stops in ports of call as the vessel is no longer required to make an obligatory international diversion to Fanning Island. With the U.S. flag designation also comes the requirement to hire a primarily U.S. crew which provided the Pride of Aloha with a strong influence of local employees.
